Community Affairs Officer (Crime Prevention Specialist)
One uniformed police officer serves as community affairs officer; administering the Neighborhood Watch program, Safety Town, installing child car seats, serving as crime prevention specialist and working with the community in coordinating and participating in various safety and public relations programs. The efforts of the Community Affairs Officer are supplemented through the participation in various community events by the C.O.P.P.S. officers, patrol officers and supervisors and the S.R.O.s. For the most part, D.A.R.E. classes are now taught by the Elementary School Resource Officer (ESRO) who is assigned to a particular elementary school.
