The acquisition, uses, and balances of the City's expendable financial resources and the related liabilities are accounted for through governmental funds.The following are the City's governmental major funds:

General Fund

The General Fund is the general operating fund of the City used to account for all financial resources except those required to be accounted for in another fund.

Parks Sales Tax Fund

The Parks Sales Tax Fund is a Special Revenue Fund used to account for the accumulation of resources from the ½ cent parks sales tax passed in November 2004 and effective April 2005. All parks and recreation activity is tracked in this fund.

Capital Improvement Sales Tax Trust Fund

The Capital Improvement Sales Tax Trust Fund is a Special Revenue Fund used to account for special revenues received from the capital improvement sales tax that are specifically earmarked for capital improvements.

Parks Construction Funds

The Parks Construction Fund is a Capital Projects Fund used to account for financial resources to be used for the acquisition of park land or construction of park and recreation facilities.

Debt Service Funds

The Debt Service Funds are used to account for the accumulation of resources for and the payment of general long-term debt principal, interest, and related costs.

The other governmental funds of the City are considered non-major.
They are Special Revenue Funds that account for the proceeds of specific revenue sources that are legally restricted to expenditures for specific purposes.
