Logan Park Updates

Chesterfield opens its newest park

A grand opening for Logan Park took place June 20, 2023 on a beautiful, sunny day with City of Chesterfield officials and staff, Logan University representatives, and residents in attendance.

Logan Park is located at 1859 Schoettler Road on 12 acres. It is the first and only park in Ward 3. The park includes a small, ADA-accessible playground, a pavilion, restroom facilities, an 8-foot-wide concrete trail around the park, storybook walk, two pickleball courts and a parking lot. It was completed in phases beginning in August 2021. The park will be maintained by Chesterfield Parks, Recreation and Arts.

At the grand opening, Mayor Bob Nation said initially the City was looking to purchase property for a park in that section of the city. After Logan University acquired the property, the city entered into a 30-year lease with the university for the Logan Park property at a cost of $1.

Two grants of $525,000 each were awarded by the Municipal Park Grant Commission for the project.

"It is a tremendous cooperating agreement that benefits not only the students and facility of Logan University but also the residents of Chesterfield," Nation said. He added that providing recreational opportunities is one of the city's most important functions.

Logan President Dr. Clay McDonald, who assisted in securing the arrangement, said he is pleased to have a park in the neighborhood. He noted that the park also has an 18-hole disc golf course.
