Letter from the Director

First and foremost, I sincerely hope that you, your family and friends are all very healthy and happy after the last year that we’ve had. What a year, so many changes, unknowns, fears. I was thankful to be able to socially distance in nature. It recharges you and allows you to take a break from all of the madness in the news; in life. Just take a break. I hope you and yours were able to enjoy some time like that in one of our beautiful Chesterfield parks. Parks staff has worked hard throughout the pandemic to keep our facilities and parks beautiful and safe, for residents, as well as general community enjoyment. So now we look forward to a year that looks, hopefully, a little more like what we’re used to.

That includes the Chesterfield Family Aquatic Center opening its gates once again, bringing back resident favorites such as weekly tot time, dive in movies, river walking club, the Crocs swim/dive team and more.

Chesterfield Valley Athletic Complex will become home to our 4th of July Celebration this year, which is a big change that we are excited to experience and bring to you all. Celebrate the holiday with us by doing the Stars and Stripes 5k/10k and Fun Run before the celebration. Chesterfield Youth Soccer League is back again for the spring and the fall and you don’t want to miss registration for those. We also have Adult Softball Leagues, for the ‘older’ kids, too! Don’t miss it.

Chesterfield Amphitheater is serving up the usual suspects - incredible ticketed concerts like Jamey Johnson and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and the well loved free Sounds of Summer concert series, including Backstoppalooza. This year also marks the 10 year anniversary for the Chesterfield Amphitheater. Ten years of heart pounding, feet stomping, hip shaking concerts; ten years of being host to charitable fundraising events, walks, and causes; ten years of weddings and celebrations; ten years of outdoor family movies; ten years of walkers and runners running the stairs and passerby’s sitting to admire the view and area. It has been a wonderful ten years and a majority of reasons for that is residents like you! Here is to another unbelievable ten.

For the more seasoned residents, our Older Adult programs provide activities that meet the needs of varying ages, from informational speaker series to yoga and pickleball, while staying socially distanced.

Stay up to date with our events, programs and announcements by signing up for one of our email blasts. We have one for general active residents, one for older adults, and one for youth events. You can find more information on how to sign up at chesterfield. mo.us/e-newsletters.html.

As always, please feel free to contact me with questions, concerns and suggestions. Otherwise, I hope to see you out and about enjoying our parks, events, recreation facilities, public art and programs with your family and friends. Wear your mask, social distance, and stay well!
