Letter from the Director

20/20 vision indicates the clarity of vision at a distance.  Looking into the distance, or future rather, the Chesterfield Parks, Recreation and Arts department is heading into 2020 with a very clear view of what the new year means for the department. It means new programs, new events, new ideas…..while keeping familiar traditions and resident favorites alive and well in our community. Let’s take a glimpse at what 2020 will bring.
Our three state-of-the-art facilities, over 567 acres of parkland and 23 miles of running, walking and biking trail routes, are there to provide residents with entertainment, recreation, art and leisure, all in their backyard. Parks maintenance staff works hard to keep our facilities and parks beautiful and safe, for all our events and programs, as well as general community enjoyment.
Chesterfield Valley Athletic Complex is home to our new Chesterfield Youth Soccer League, which had a fantastic start in 2019. The league is a great opportunity for residents and non-residents to get their kiddos involved in local sports in the  spring and fall. Adult Softball leagues are still a favorite for the older athletes, with spring and fall options, as well. Shamrock 5k/10k and Lil’ Leprechaun Run and the Stars and Stripes 5k/10k and Fun Run also take place at CVAC, and are part of our Holiday Run Series, which also includes the Turkey Trot 5k and Fun Run. Runners and walkers participating in all three events can earn a special shirt, medal and discount on all three races.
Looking for something to do in the warmer months? We’ve got you covered! The Chesterfield Family Aquatic Center hosts tot-time each week, with a fun themed morning at the pool for the younger swimmers. No younger kids in the family – no worries, we also have diving clinics, swim team, swim lessons, water polo, water aerobics, and of course, resident favorite – river walking club. And that’s just to name a few aquatic programs and events!
Once you’re done at the pool, head over to the Chesterfield Amphitheater to enjoy one of our free Sounds of Summer concerts or a ticketed concert for one of the rockin’ bands/artists to be announced this summer! The ChAmp is the perfect summer setting with amazing acoustics for your first or 100th concert. And don’t miss our FREE outdoor movies!
From fitness classes and informational seminars to fun day trips and themed bingo - our Older Adult programs provide activities that set levels meeting the needs of varying ages.
Stay up to date with our events, programs and announcements by signing up for one of our email blasts. We have one for general active residents, one for older adults, and one for youth events. You can find more information on how to sign up at chesterfield. mo.us/e-newsletters.html. Another way to stay up to date is on our Chesterfield Parks app, where you will receive convenient
up-to-date information on our events, programs and weather-related notifications.
As always, please feel free to contact me with questions, concerns and suggestions. Otherwise, I hope to see you out and about enjoying our parks, events and recreation facilities, public art and programs with your family and friends.
