MSG from Mayor Nation: Remembering 9/11

As we approach the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attack on our country there are many broadcasts that serve as a reminder of devastation so many in our country experienced. The heart wrenching stories are horrific, and even more so when we have a personal connection with those who were victims.

At this time in our world and our country, there seem to be so many things going on that create fear and uncertainty along with heightened levels of anxiety and disagreement. Alternatively for me, I take comfort in the blessings that have been given and am grateful for the country in which I live (even with its imperfections.) I think this is a time when we give ourselves a break and also consciously be more tolerant and understanding of those who may express views different than those we ourselves possess. Our world is becoming more diversified, perhaps at a faster pace than some of us can keep up with, but we must strive to be open minded and accepting of those who have walked different paths and come from different backgrounds.

We can look back and take pride (in spite of the tremendous losses) in the tragic events we have experienced and endured. This should also give us confidence and faith that we will continue to overcome difficult times like the one we seem to be living.

Sincerely,

Bob Nation
