CHESTERFIELD MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL TO
RECOGNIZE THE 2020 CHESTERFIELD CITIZEN OF THE YEAR

Now, more than ever, our communities need individuals to volunteer and support others throughout the City. Chesterfield Citizen of the Year recipients are recognized for their benefit to the City of Chesterfield through volunteerism, working on community projects and contributing to overall civic groups. The Chesterfield Mayor and City Council recognize George and Ann Chrissos as the 2020 Chesterfield Citizen of the Year. A Citizens Selection Committee presented their recommendation to the Mayor, City Council and City Administrator following their review of several worthy nominations.
On September 20, 2021, Mayor Bob Nation and City Council will honor Mr. and Mrs. Chrissos. George and Ann Chrissos have been residents of Chesterfield since 1997 and have made an immeasurable impact on Chesterfield, passionately advocating for the good of our City and her residents.

Ann Chrissos was a member of the “Chesterfield Historical Commission” from 2005-2011 and servicing as secretary for three of the six years. She has been a member of the “Chesterfield Historic & Landmarks Preservation Committee” since 2011. Ann has written approximately 40 articles about Chesterfield history for the Citizen and Out & About. She has edited about 55 oral interviews and put them on the City of Chesterfield’s website. She has also represented CHLPC at the Faust Festivals, at the Library History Days and at Chesterfield Senior Samplers. She occasionally volunteers at the Chesterfield Heritage Museum and gives presentations about Chesterfield history at a variety of venues. Ann helped to research and write Chesterfield Missouri: From Untamed Wilderness to Thriving Municipality.

Ann has been a volunteer book discussion moderator at Daniel Boone Library from 2010-2019 and also volunteered as an aquatic’s instructor at the West County YMCA from 2006-2010. For the past 4 years she has been busy providing a monthly casserole for a soup kitchen run by Sister of Charity sponsored by Ascension Church.

George Chrissos has also served on the “Chesterfield Historic & Landmarks Preservation Committee” since 2011. He developed a spreadsheet from the Chesterfield, Missouri: Cemeteries book for the City of Chesterfield’s website. It included approximately two thousand names and seven hundred pictures. He assist’s Ann with her articles and presentations, as well as occasionally volunteering at the Chesterfield Heritage Museum.

It is because of Citizens such as George and Ann Chrissos that Chesterfield continues to be a community of distinction and a municipality that we can all be proud to a part of.

A reception in the Multi-Purpose Room at City Hall will follow the presentation at the City Council meeting.
