Chesterfield completes playground renovations at Central Park and the Chesterfield Valley Athletic Complex

The Chesterfield Parks, Recreation & Arts Division received a Municipal Parks Grant for $333,000  to resurface the two playgrounds located at Central Park (16365 Lydia Hill Drive) and the Chesterfield Valley Athletic Complex (17925 North Outer 40 Road).  The resurfacing replaced an engineered wood mulch material that required regular replenishment, inspection and maintenance.  While it met all safety standards, it was difficult for users with any physical limitations and was also difficult for parents with wheeled strollers.

The new playgrounds have a rubberized surface that replaced the existing mulch from the entire playground encompassed by the concrete border. The rubberized playground is cleaner, provides easier accessibility and is a better playing experience for all children, eliminating trip hazards caused by mulch for children with walkers and wheel chairs and offers better year round use.  A new concrete border was replaced at the Chesterfield Valley Athletic Complex as well.
