Republic Services Suspends Bulk & Yard Waste Pickup Temporarily

Due to the fluidity and ongoing concerns related to COVID-19, it is clear that business as usual is not an option.   We are actively adjusting staffing, equipment and operations to meet your waste and disposal needs during this crisis.  We are committed to providing Essential Services to residents – Solid Waste and Recycling collection.   Yard Waste and Bulk Routes are not essential during the pandemic.  We need those resources – people and equipment - to focus on the Solid Waste and Recycle collection.

Therefore, we are suspending bulk and yard waste service beginning Monday, March 30, until further notice.   In addition, to keep our drivers as safe as possible, they have been instructed to not pick up any debris or bags outside of the carts.  Therefore, trash and recycle material will be limited to cart only.

The Stay at Home Order declared by County Executive Sam Page delineates essential services and functions.  Trash removal is an essential service.  Yard waste removal is not.  Republic is down drivers due to the pandemic.  They are using the drivers they have to concentrate on solid waste and recycling services, which are automated and can be provided from the truck, without touching bags or cans.  Until the Order is rescinded residents will need to keep their yard waste or dispose of it via other lawful means.  I know this is inconvenient, but unfortunately there are many inconveniences we are all dealing with right now.
